Wye Oak will release their new album, The Knot, on July 21st. The Knot was written and recorded by Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner in rural Cumberland, MD and in their Baltimore living room.
Jenn and Andy spent much of If Children, their debut album, submerging their songs of youthful love and dread in a distortion haze, but The Knot starts with a bell. From the first clarion-clear note, Wye Oak’s collective vision is sharpened on The Knot, a set of songs that sway, stretch, and scream while always reaching outward for a personal connection.
Wye Oak started as two friends recording songwriting demos together, but their basement project has since evolved to include tours of America and Europe. The NY Times’ Jon Pareles described their live performance, “Wye Oak segued thoughtful roots-tinged rock into richly overwhelming textural excursions.”
The Knot will be available on CD and digital download on July 21st. Wye Oak just began a US tour with Pomegranates.
