Umphrey’s McGee (with The Mantras)
February 16, 2012
As part of their “we are always on tour because people cannot get enough of us because we kick a whole lotta ass and melt faces” (that was made up) tour, the improg-rock Chicago based quintet, Umphrey’s McGee steamrolled into North Carolina’s Queen City of Charlotte.
Following a set by Carolina natives, The Mantras, Umphrey’s did what they are known to do and the very thing that caused the sizable Fillmore to be packed on this night in Charlotte: burn through two blistering sets that consisted of pristine musicianship, seamless segues and an unrelenting quest for innovation.
I: Gurgle, Resolution, White Man’s Moccasins, The Bottom Half, Miss Gradanko, Women Wine And Song, Miami Virtue, The Floor
II: Tribute to the Spinal Shaft, Mulche’s Odyssey, Dear Prudence, The Triple Wide, 1348, Soul Food II, Soul Food I, Puppet String
Encore: Syncopated Strangers, Waiting Room
