Only a few days into the New Year, the New York City based progressive groove powerhouse U-Melt is further solidifying their reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the business. In familiar U-Melt fashion, the band ushered in 2009 with another legendary NYE performance at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ. The preliminary run of dates will feature stops throughout the northeast before embarking on a weeklong run of dates throughout the southeast.
The Winter Tour 2009 will kick off Thursday, January 22nd at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, NY and will run through the last weekend in February with performances at the North Star in Philadelphia and the first annual Winter Jam at Hunter Mountain. In between, U-Melt returns to several of their favorite haunts in Boston, S. Burlington, Baltimore, Ithaca, Albany/Troy, Syracuse and Northampton. The band will also make their debut at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, The Ocean Mist in Wakefield, RI and the Fairfield Theater Company in Fairfield, CT.
Following the northeastern run of performances, U-Melt will head south for a week’s worth of southeastern shows beginning with the band’s debut at The Cherry St. Café in Richmond on Sunday, February 15th. Additional stops include Raleigh, Charleston, Charlotte and Atlanta, where U-Melt will perform a special late night set at Smith’s Olde Bar following the Umphrey’s McGee show at the Variety Playhouse earlier that evening.
Providing a sneak peek into U-Melt’s Spring 2009 Tour, the band will return to NYC on Friday, April 10th with a debut at the BB King Blues Club. U-Melt will again play a very special late night set following the Umphrey’s McGee show at the Nokia Theater. U-Melt will be pairing with longtime friend Wyllys for a progressive series of events that touch on different aspects of electronic music, performing interlocking sets with the middle set focused on particular styles of beats native to the areas they play.
