The Jam Stampede featuring Mark Karan & Kenny Brooks
New York City, NY
April 19, 2011
Jam Stampede took on the task of doing what many have done last week at the Brooklyn Bowl. They had a Grateful Dead centered set. However, this was not just any old cover set. It featured Mark Karan on guitar and vocals and Kenny Brooks on sax, both of Ratdog and other extended Grateful Dead family notorieties.
It was a night of stellar musicianship and tribute. As a surprise and in spite of the fact that the bill only included Karan and Brooks as special guests, Jason Crosby dropped by to add in a nice element by squaring off on keys with Jam Stampede’s Freeman White in the first set’s closing numbers.
