In celebration of the 30th anniversary of its still ground-shaking debut album, The Clash is revisiting its catalog and releasing a number of new collections and compilations as well as a DVD. One of the first of these releases is a collection of all 20 of their A-sides ever released, entitled The Clash:The Singles.
Functioning as an all-encompassing greatest hits collection, the set includes everything from “White Man in Hammersmith Palais” and “White Riot” from their debut album to “Rock the Casbah” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go” from Combat Rock, and many high points in between.
If you haven’t yet been introduced to The Clash (What took you so long?) this is a great place to start. But you would be doing yourself more justice go out and get the albums themselves and find out why, at one time, The Clash were heralded as “The Most Important Band in the World.”
The Clash: The Singles is out now on Epic Records.
