The Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Wavy Gravy’s Birthday Bash
The Craneway Pavilion
May 14, 2011
The band that remained in seeming shrouded secrecy has finally surfaced and is on tour making its way up and down California’s left coast. Yes, we are referring to The Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Underneath what can only be interpreted as a media blackout, photo ops have been scarce. That is until Susan Weiand caught up with the ensemble whose members include Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), guitarist Neal Casal (Ryan Adams & The Cardinals), drummer George Sluppick (The City Champs, Mofro) and Mark Dutton (Burning Tree) on bass.
On this night and alongside many other notables, the quartet came out to assist in the celebration of hippie icon, Wavy Gravy’s 75th Birthday celebration with proceeds going to Seva Foundation.
Flanked by jam legends on all sides including Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Steve Kimock, CRB took the stage towards the top of the marquee and did so with a little help from the aforementioned Weir who sat in during "They Love Each Other."
As noted earlier, Susan J. Weiand was on the scene to capture some of the evening’s festivities in that "Sue way" that we have all come to know and love.
