Sam Holt’s Dyrty Byrds bring it to the Southland

SOUTHEASTERN SHOWCASE 2010

Thursday, 12/2 – Smith’s Olde Bar, Atlanta, GA

Friday, 12/3 – Live Wire Music Hall, Savannah, GA

Saturday, 12/4 – The Charleston Pour House, Charleston, SC

Formed in the fall of 2009, the DYRTY BYRDS began as a side project between guitarists Sam Holt, Eric Martinez, and Tori Pater. The trio’s sound reflected the hard-driving Southern rock leanings that reflect all three’s musical ties to the region. Holt is one of the founding members of the Atlanta based Outformation, and has sat in with numerous bands including Widespread Panic. Martinez has been a member of Athens based Bloodkin for more than five years, and recently played as a guest with Widespread Panic as well. Pater, a Georgia native, has established himself throughout the Colorado music scene with Denver’s based funk outfit; Polytoxic,.

Bassist Mike “Spanky” McCluer joined the band soon after its inception. McCluer had collaborated with Pater since moving to Colorado from Texas in 1999 and his style meshed perfectly with the band’s developing sound. Drummer Lionel “Bud” Lucchesi, a former band mate of Spanky’s from Texas, finished out the band’s rhythm section.

The band has been honing it’s sound in venues all over Colorado, which has paid off for both the band and its growing fan base. The purpose of this SOUTHEASTERN SHOWCASE 2010, is to bring the music back to it’s origins…. the Southland.
