Bristol Rhythm and Roots 2011-9

Photos: A Look Back at Bristol Rhythm & Roots

There’s something special that blooms just west of the Blue Ridge Mountains each September, and it is rich enough for two states to enjoy. For one weekend, The Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion takes over downtown Bristol, straddling State Street – and the TN/VA state line – with a variety of stages and an impressive line-up of Americana’s best.

This year’s festival included stunning sets by Dawes, James Justin & CO., The Greencards, Thrift Store Cowboys, Jessica Lea Mayfield, The David Mayfield Parade, Justin Townes Earle, Railroad Earth, and The New Familiars, among a host of others.

This year’s event also included a passionate, emotion-filled reunion of the everybodyfields, their first performance since 2009.

The Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion is a classic — with warm people, a beautiful location, and a great legacy of good-time music.
