For many moons, there was a running joke amongst Perpetual Groove and its faithful. Though the exact statement fails to come to mind, it had something to do with the fact that we all wondered if PGroove bassist, Adam Perry, did in fact actually speak. There was a degree of truth in the endearing jest, Perry truly is a man of few words. But as most know, when someone speaks very little, you should pay attention when that one’s mouth moves. So is the case with Perry’s debut album, Electric Pulse Radio, from his side-project, Elephant Zaio Sunrise.
The album that is riddled with trance and decidedly un-Perpetual Groove tones, does feature appearances by bandmates Albert Suttle and Brock Butler. Other guests include Perry’s brother, Damien (Red Giant), and sister Dana.
Though the album features guests, Perry, a recent husband and father (see here for an interview from when his now born son was still awaiting entry), is definitely the mastermind on the project’s release – singing, playing guitar, organ and of course, bass. Further, if you listen closely, the heartiness can truly be found in the lyrical content that is masked behind effects that set the tone on the record.

For now, Perry is about to go on tour with Perpetual Groove.
