Outformation has been playing as much as possible for the last year. Working around day jobs and the scattered geographics of band members, they had a successful 2006.
This year they have already hunkered down in Dark Horse Studios to record a new album. The album is being produced by Eli Akins (the band's tour/production manager), and should feature some new material as well as fan favorites like “Dark Severinson.” The studio is in John Hermann’s (Widespread Panic) neighborhood, so it is no surprise that he appears on the album, adding piano and vocals to “Traveler’s Rest.”
The fulltime addition of keyboardist CR Gruver has proven elemental in the live setting, and he should be a great asset to the album. Alongside founding members Sam Holt, Lee Schwartz and Grady Upchurch, CR and percussionist Jeff “BirdDog” Lane have filled out the band dynamic.
Outformation has launched a winter tour that will keep them busy until spring. They have tour dates form New York City to Telluride and back to Georgia. Additionally, appearances during New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and at Wakarusa make certain it will be an exciting spring and summer.
