Lotus to deliver third full-length in September

Instrumental post-rock and electronic dance band Lotus is set to release its third full-length studio album September 13th via SCI Fidelity Records. The self-titled album finds the band moving in a decidedly more electronic direction, while still staying true to their organic roots.

Analog synthesizers, manipulated sounds, dub effects and heavy bass are balanced by horns and string arrangements in addition to Lotus’s standard guitar/bass/drums instrumentation. Grooves range from slinky funk and gritty half-time on the first half of the album to the beautiful and expansive closing track "Orchids."

Although bits and pieces of vocals are used throughout, the only song to feature singing is "The Surf." And while it may be the closest thing to a pop song the band has ever released, the melodic guitar hooks and ecstatic synth are pure Lotus.

Armed with an intense light rig, Lotus is taking its live show on the road through the fall including appearances at Outside Lands Festival and North Coast Music Festival & two nights in Burlington and Madison. Additional headline shows include New York’s Terminal 5 and LA’s El Rey Theatre. See below for a full list of dates.

The band has become a staple on the festival circuit as its unique musical voice fits in everywhere from Bonnaroo to Ultra Music Fest. Their devout following loves them for their sweaty, energetic sets and promoters love them for their ability to fill the country’s finest clubs and theaters. Earlier this month, Lotus co-headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre with The Glitch Mob to a sold out audience who danced the night away under the clear Colorado sky.

Lotus is composed of Mike Greenfield (Drums), Jesse Miller (Bass, Sampler), Luke Miller (Guitar, Keys) and Mike Rempel (Guitar).
