Little Feat’s Richie Hayward Dies

Richie Hayward, drummer and founding member of Little Feat, passed away from complications of liver cancer yesterday. He was 64.  In August 2009, Hayward announced that he had recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and would not be at work indefinitely. A benefit concert was organized, and a website created where fans unable to attend could donate towards his treatment costs. Hayward lived in Canada, outside of his native US, and did not have health insurance.

Before joining Little Feat, Hayward was a member of The Fraternity of Man, best known for their 1968 song, "Don't Bogart Me", from the Easy Rider soundtrack.

Little Feat have announced that their drum technician Gabe Ford will take his place.
