Taking the stage in Atlanta, GA, Laura Reed & Deep Pocket are fully captured on the release, Live at Tree Sound Studios.
A dual disc/DVD project, Live at Tree Sound Studios engages the listener with positive vibes on the audio's opening track, "Why Have a Frown." Reed's deep, soulful voice is matched note for note by Debrissa McKinney, while backing unit Deep Pocket lays down a wicked groove, and organist Ryan Burns layers in organic backing lines that color the dance happy number. "Thank You" highlights the closely rocking rhythm unit of Ben Didelot on bass and Jimbonk on drums.
The DVD portion offers mini documentary action, and insight into the world of Reed and Deep Pocket's existence, along with extensive stories from the road. The live footage is worth the price alone, and the ambiance at Tree Sound is thick and bouncing from the dreadlocked diva Reed's interactive performance with the audience. Engineered by Wyatt Oates and Paul Diaz, Live at Tree Sound Studios has a crisp, clear sound that enhances the Laura Reed and Deep Pocket experience. It's a worthy, funky, booty shakin' trip.
