Advancing the causes of jazz fusion and rock and roll, Jim Weider’s Project Percolator cruises smoothly with winning instrumentation on the long player, Pulse.
Weider, guitarist from The Band, extends his unique, string-bending artistry on the opening track, "Squirrels in Paris." Backing up Weider in Project Percolator are former Steve Kimock veterans Rodney Holmes on drums and Mitch Stein on guitar, who add depth and dimension to the title number, speeding up the musical crescendo until it hits rarified peaks. Bassist Steve Lucas anchors the back and forth musical conversation that dominates "No Exit Strategy."
Recorded live in February, 2008 at Allaire Studio in Shokan, New York and produced by John Holbrook and Jim Weider, Pulse redefines the joy and discovery of taped improvisational theater, and thrusts Jim Weider into the spotlight alongside his daredevil backup unit Project Percolator. It’s one wild ride.
Pulse is out now on Moon Haw.
