Hot Tuna (Acoustic Trio) w/ Dangermuffin
July 13, 2012
It was a hot day under the Hot-lanta sun when the Hot Tuna acoustic trio of Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Barry Mitterhoff rolled into the city”s Variety Playhouse.Â
Beginning the evening, Dangermuffin took over where the sun left off, providing those that had sought shelter from the dwindling rays outside with a dose of their self-coined “organic, sand-blasted roots rock, with a sweet jam spread” music, amply warming up the stage for the legendary jamsters that would soon rule the rest of the night.
On this night, Hot Tuna treated their Atlanta faithful to quite the treat. With a solid setlist, obviously played to perfection, the Friday the 13th evening was capped by Jorma Kaukonen”s Airplane opus, “Embryonic Journey,” a tune that he admits came about as a complete accident in a 2011 Honest Tune interview.Â
If only every person in the world could have accidents like Jorma…
