High Sierra Music Festival
Quincy, CA
June 30 – July 3, 2011

The 21st annual High Sierra Music Fest took place June 30-July 3, 2011 in beautiful Quincy, California, nestled in the Feather River Canyon of Plumas County. This fest offers music for all tastes: funk, R&B, bluegrass, folk, electronic, indie, and good old rock and roll.  Headliners this year included My Morning Jacket, Warren Haynes Band, Gillian Welch, Ween and Yonder Mountain String Band with performances by Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Bill Frisell’s Beautiful Dreamers, Spanish Bombs performing the Clash’s London Calling and reggae and ska legend Ernest Ranglin to round out the diverse lineup.
But perhaps High Sierra’s biggest draw is the “family” vibe. Folks who have been attending this intimate festival for years consider High Sierra a family reunion of friends. With no big corporate sponsors but small boutique vendors, microbreweries, and unique and healthy food options make the experience special for festivalgoers. Added attractions like a silent disco, fire performances nightly, nanny service and a kid’s zone for the little ones, beer and wine tastings, free performer playshops, daily parades in which anyone can participate, sunrise kickball games, Grizzly Radio broadcasting many musical performances and interviews, yoga, poi spinning and hooping lessons, and ongoing campsite parties make this a very inclusive festival. There is truly is something for everyone.
