Greensky Blugrass to hit the road all fall long before parking on Jam Cruise

Today, Greensky Bluegrass has announced that they are once again set to hit the road once again, beginning, well…. now actually.

Though the band of hearty players have been together for quite some time, overdue national recognition that, for whatever the reason eluded the string band for far too long,  has only been a relatively recent occurrence. And though the band would be the very first to say that they haven’t “arrived,” it is clear that their fanbase is only growing with each and every passing gig.

Mostly known for a live show that primarily consists of an intensely fast brand of bluegrass and leaves no stone unturned, the quintet (Paul Hoffman- mandolin, vocals | Anders Beck- drop-steel/Dobro | Michael Arlen Bont- banjo | Dave Bruzza- guitar, vocals | Mike Devol- bass) earns its fans the old fashioned way, by playing as though every gig were their last.  However, Greensky is more than a band that blows minds with a fervent style of play. They are equally — and uniquely — equipped affect crowds through numbers that are lyrically heartfelt and musically poignant with numbers such as the title track to their most recent studio offering (that made Honest Tune‘s top 11 of 2011 list), Handguns. (see below to stream the title track from Handguns)

Courtesy of a string of large festival appearances, the band seemingly gains a new legion at every stop, and therefore, their tours have begun to branch out far beyond those of a mere three years ago; and with shows ranging from Chicago to Philadelphia and a two-night stand in Denver, a trip to Seattle and even a couple of dates in Montana, most will be within a short distance of the band at some point this fall… unless you live in the South.

Further, Greensky will be on hand at two large fall festivals, Railroad Earth’s Hangtown Halloween Ball and The Werk Out, that is held on the same piece of land that welcomed All Good this year (hosted by The Werks).
