In advance of The String Cheese Incident’s summer tour dates, Billboard.com has the exclusive premiere of the devoutly DIY band’s first new studio recording in 7 years. In conjunction, the band released a video that gives a behind the scene look at the SCI community as well as a preview of what to look forward to at this summer’s Incidents.
Download or stream the new song, “Can’t Wait Another Day,” and watch the video below.Â
The summer run starts with 3 headlining shows at the Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, MI, headlining a diverse lineup with Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation, Girl Talk and many more artists, plus 3 nights at Red Rocks, The Greek Theater in LA and more. The band will also return to Horning’s Hideout in northern Oregon for the 7th edition of their intimate weekend festival, a beloved fan favorite that sold out in a matter of minutes.
Constantly evolving since forming in 1995, The String Cheese Incident fuses folk, bluegrass and Americana with everything from African rhythms and jazz to cutting-edge electronic music.
The band recently made headlines for their effort to provide fans with tickets to their shows minus fees, service charges, etc. that Ticketmaster and other sources charge fans. They did so by sending fans and friends to the Greek Theater in Los Angeles with $20,000 to purchase tickets to the show that will take place on 7/13/12. The tickets are now available through String Cheese Incident’s website directly to fans to avoid Ticketmaster fees. Read the NY Times story, that includes comments from the band regarding the reason behind the decision that cost them quite a bit of money, here: http://nyti.ms/JG58QY
iClips.net will broadcast a Pay-Per-View streaming series from the Red Rocks shows, a summer performance ritual for the band. They will donate a portion of the net proceeds to victims of the High Park Fire in Larimer County, CO.
Pricing for the Red Rocks streaming package: $7.99 pre-order for a single show, $12.99 on day of show for single shows, $14.99 pre-sale for the 3 night run which goes up to $19.99 on July 1st.
