Derek Trucks Band
Charlotte, North Carolina
November 28-29, 2008
Over the course of two nights following Thanksgiving, The Derek Trucks Band called the historic The McGlohon Theatre in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina their home.
This beautiful former First Baptist Church, was opened as an entertainment venue in 1980. The theatre is an intimate venue with capacity of just over 700, and the stained glass windows, domed ceiling and excellent acoustics make it a wonderful place to see a show. The run with Trucks and company was no different.
Highlights from the first night included a take on "My Favorite Things" and the encore, a blistering "For My Brother."
The second date, however, was the real treat. Susan Tedeschi joined the band on several occasions throughout the night. Highlights included "Afro Blue," the seated and acoustically played three songs at the beginning of the second set, "Done Got Over" with Tedeschi and best of all, the "Joyful Noise" encore, where the entire room was standing and really getting into the groove.
