Dave Matthews fans have a reason to celebrate. No matter how hard the guy tries, he seemingly cannot take the hiatus that he has been basically promising for a year now. Instead, he has taken on an all new project– a series of festivals (Dave Matthews Band Caravan) that will rattle off at one a month for the months of une, July, August and September. For the first edition, Matthews will play three sets with Dave Matthews Band to close out each night (6/24-6/26) at Atlantic City’s Bader Field, the former site of the city’s municipal airport.
At present, Matthews is claiming that these four gigs (or 12 when calculating the fact that he and his band will be playing at all three events…or 15 if the Dave and Tim Reynolds acoustic set is taken into account) will be the only one of 2011. Though the odds-makers in Atlantic City will probably put a line out soon in regards to whether or not DMB will do a New Year’s Run.
In any event, he will not be taking on this Caravan task alone. He has assembled quite the variety of acts to play the "multi-stage" event that some are dubbing "Bro-chella." The event also promises late night sets scattered across the city for patrons to choose from though no details have been released yet.
