New Orleans Blues and Barbeque Festival
October 18-19, 2008
On the beautiful weekend of October 18 and 19, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation (the Jazz Fest folks), under the direction of Scot Aiges, presented the third annual Blues and Barbeque Festival. In a city known for funk and jazz, blues is often overlooked. Travel an hour west to Baton Rouge or a couple of hours east to Mississippi and the blues flourishes. The finally-arrived-cooler weather, the great food, and the wonderful array of musicians made the festival a success. Plus, where else but NOLA can you see a tuba backing a bluesman?
