Texas-rocker Alejandro Escovedo has been tapped to perform live from the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO on Tuesday evening as part of the DNCC’s nighttime program which will feature Senator Hillary Clinton as the evening’s prime-time headline speaker. Escovedo, who is slated to perform "People (We’re Only Gonna Live So Long)" from his recent release Real Animal, will take the stage at 5:45 p.m. (MST).
This will mark Escovedo’s first performance at the Democratic National Convention. About the opportunity Escovedo had to say, "These are unbalanced times, and great change is needed. To be included in this celebration of the dignity and freedom of women and minorities is an honor."
Escovedo will wrap up the whirlwind week with a performance at the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee on August 30th, on the same bill as Bruce Springsteen, followed up by a West Coast tour kicking off in San Diego on September 8th.
Real Animal, released earlier this summer on EMI/Manhattan/Back Porch has been heralded as a "collaborative triumph" by Rolling Stone and "the finest album of a career already marked by impressive quality" by USA Today, and gave him his first-ever chart position on the Billboard Top 200.
