The sprawling double disc by 7 Worlds Collide, The Sun Came Out, is partnered with Oxfam International in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres, and features an all star output of brilliant songwriting and performing.
The chief performer in the middle of 7 Worlds is master tunesmith Neil Finn. His collaboration with The Smiths’ Johnny Marr begins the album with exhilarating finesse on the upbeat pop nugget "Too Blue." He also starts the second disc in defining fashion with the haunting workout "All Comedians Suffer." KT Tunstall makes her presence known on the gorgeously descriptive "Black Silk Ribbon" and the tightly drawn marvel, "Hazel Black." Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy engages in The Beatles-inspired gem "You Never Know."
But The Sun Came Out belongs to Neil Finn, and he once again joins forces with Liam Finn to harness the glowing, rich composition, "Learn to Crawl." His influence is enough to push 7 Worlds Collide beyond the ordinary and toward heightened excellence on the beautifully conceived project The Sun Came Out.
The Sun Came Out is out now on Red Distribution.
